Francesco Nesi was born in 1952 in San Casciano
Val di Pesa (Fi).
Self-taught painter grew up with the great passion
cultivated since childhood.
Ironic, full of imagination and a lover of 'joyful and
playful' visions, he has a freshness and a wealth of
inventiveness. These are the atmospheres of his
places that inspire him and accompany him in his
paintings; his works are appreciated for the harmony
of color and the skilful construction of the
landscape that welcomes the figures.
Nesi started exhibiting at the beginning of the
Nineties, after having won the Bargellini Prize in
Florence in 1985, obtaining a personal exhibition
at the National Library of the city.
Since 1993 he has participated with great success
in collective and personal exhibitions, fairs and art
exhibitions, both in Italy and abroad.
The 'men' with hat, frac and martingale have happily
continued to fly over the Tuscan landscape, to
play the violin on the sea and under the bridges of
a dreamlike Florence, for all this time, with countless
exhibitions, becoming known in the United
States, in Munich and in Minden (Germany), in
France in Paris, in Cap d'Antibes, in Chaumont.
And again at the Sharjah Art Museum in the United
Arab Emirates, in Riga (Latvia), in California, in
Florence (Church of San Marco) and in Ferrara in
the Palazzo degli Estensi, then exhibitions in Castro
Verde in Portugal and in Spain. Then again the
personal exhibition at the Il Novecento Gallery in
Salerno, Corsica and Poltu Quatu and Porto Cervo
(Sardinia). Following are the exhibitions in France,
at Frontignan and at the Carrousel du Louvre in
Paris, at the Galleria d'Arte Barbato in Scafati (Sa)
and 'Orizzonti... e oltre' in the Sala delle Colonne
in Pontassieve (Fi). And, again, 'La danza della
Luna' at the SpaziArti Ungallery in Milan, 'A passeggio
tra sogno e realtà ' at Palazzo De Maria in
Paestum (Sa) and in the complex of San Filippo
Neri di Lauro (Av), the personal exhibition at Villa
Schiff of Montignoso (Ms), in Altamura (Art Image
gallery) at the Michetti Museum in Francavilla a
Mare (Ch) and the bipersonal with his daughter,
'Francesco ed Elisa Nesi. Arte generazionale' at
Eataly di Firenze and 'Sotto la Stessa Luna' at the
Polifunctional Observatory of the Chianti area of
Barberino Val d'Elsa (Fi).
In 2015 he inaugurated a monument to Pontassieve,
dedicated to 'fiascaie'.
He lives and works in Tavarnelle Val di Pesa (Fi).
